The Hotel Royal Victoria is a four stars hotel facing the lake, situated in the historical centre of Varenna, a charming medieval village and one of the most appreciated tourist destinations of lake Como.
Once a spinnery, Mrs Giuseppina Pezzini transformed it into a hotel calling it "Hotel Royal". In 1838 the Queen of England stayed here and it was in her honour that the hotel changed its name into "Hotel Royal Victoria". Probably also the famous musician and composer Gounod was inspired by his contemplations of the lake at sunset before composing his "Ave Maria".
